Quickly master the distinguishing skills of TPE and TPR raw materials

Source:德创化工Time:2020-03-29Hits:2400
As for TPE and TPR, there are still many users who don't understand and struggle. The granulation plant stipulates that SEBS blend modified materials are called TPE and SBS blend modified materials are called TPR, but this stipulation does not have academic authority and has not been accepted in books. So, what are the differences between TPE and TPR? Firstly, TPE particles appear as matte surfaces. While TPR particles show bright surface. In addition, there are some specific discrimination methods: 1. Hardness less than 30A For TPE and TPR with low hardness, TPR's tensile elongation performance is not as good as TPE in general, and TPR feels more sticky than TPE. 2. hardness 35~70A About this hardness range. The smoke of TPR combustion is thicker than that of TPE combustion, and the flame of TPR combustion is yellow. The TPE flame body may be blue except yellow. 3. hardness above 75A The hardness TPR, due to the large proportion of PS and the styrene contained in its base material SBS, has obvious aromatic fragrance when burned. Of course, when burning, the smoke is darker and the flame is yellow. The hardness TPE, due to the large proportion of PP, has a lighter fragrance when burning, while PP has a more obvious petroleum flavor. When burning, the smoke is lighter and the root of the flame is blue. So many friends struggle with the difference between TPE and TPR. The author's reply is that this is only a difference in the terms of materials. When selecting materials, just specify your own requirements and select materials modified by suitable substrates, without too much emphasis on the literal terms of TPE or TPR. Use of TPE and TPR: SEBS is a hydrogenated product of SBS. SEBS has better aging resistance and crack resistance. Therefore, TPE is much more widely used than TPR. TPR applications are limited to toys, shoe materials, etc. TPE has a wide range of applications, such as food, medical care, automobiles, cables, electronic products and so on.
